Retaking knowledge test for higher score.

I got 100% on my instrument written and have .2 in actual. Can I borrow your plane for an IFR flight to the coast? The field is overcast at 700' and my plane doesn't have a GPS. :)

You know what the airlines call a captain who got a 70 on any test? Captain. :)

    C150 Engine Upgrade

Part of the O-320 STC requires a placard which states: "Intentional spins prohibited". Can't imagine why. :) While working through my commercial rating, my instructor was amazed at how my 150 "drops" when chopping the throttle, setting up for power off 180s. It definitely doesn't glide like...

    C150 Engine Upgrade

I've always thought the Sparrowhawk conversion(125HP) made the most sense for a 150. It's pretty much the sweet spot.

    C150 Engine Upgrade

I've got a 150hp C-150. While the climb performance is nice, it makes any longer trips more complicated due to fuel considerations. I plan for roughly 2.5 hours between fuel stops. You won't see a dramatic increase in speed, either. Having said that, I recently flew a "standard" 150 with the...

For Sale: Aircraft Cherokee 180 Partnership Greater New Orleans

Ownership, especially a plane with the capabilities of this 180 doesn't get much cheaper. Three other people to share with isn't a bad deal, either.

    2nd class medical

I wrestled with the FAA on my 2nd class medical due to tachycardia caused by antihistamines. Thank you, Zyrtec. I had to jump through all kinds of hoops, even though the report from the cardiologist stated that I was a "profoundly boring patient" as it relates to heart issues and confirmed...

Airman Inquiry change in medical status

Airman Inquiry change in medical status

I just received my medical today, 17 weeks after submitting the requested info. While I now have a 2nd class, I am ABSOLUTELY going back to Basic Med to avoid the hassle. What is silly is that the FAA took 17 weeks to review the information as they are understaffed, but they did not extend the...

Wife Threatened To Report Me To The FAA

What is he supposed to do about the suicide claim? Randomly submit "I'm still here!" e-mails. :)

    Check status of medical

16 weeks is after the additional information was requested. After 45 minutes of waiting on hold to check the status this morning, I was told that their system crashed and there was nothing they could do. This is our FAA, folks. I didn't know I could feel this level of frustration.

Deferred Medical - no needed additional information

In my experience, the FAA will ALWAYS require additional information and NEVER make it easy. A bit of frustrated sarcasm there, but the FAA is to blame. As an entity, they are challenging (being kind) to deal with, even though there are quite a few pleasant folks that work for the infernal...

    Thinking about a Ford F 150 Ecoboost

That's EXACTLY where I'm at. I've got a 1995 Mastercraft Prostar 190 in phenomenal shape. Bought it 8 years ago for $8000.00 with 180 hours on it. A 2021 Prostar 190 retails for around $80k. Is it better than my boat? In every way, yes. But, is it ten times better? Not a chance. That's...

    Thinking about a Ford F 150 Ecoboost

The 3.5L Powerboost (hybrid) looks like a great choice. We pull a 7000lb travel trailer or ski boat regularly and put the new Powerboost F150 at the top of our list. However, $65K for a new truck is just assinine. As such, I spent $300.00 for new Bilstein shocks on the rear and a new seatbelt...
