Looking for info on less lethal/non lethal self defense products

I don't know how old the "daughters" are here, but there are several states that restrict stun guns for those that are under 16/18/21. Some states require a background check or permit. Some cities/counties ban them even when states permit them. Tasers (the ones with projectiles) are...

    Corsair Replia broken

Years ago I hired a guy who had been a tower controller. He said that when someone bounced like that they'd clear them for touch and go and press the counter twice.

Best location for the $ to live and fly LSAs?

Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded. Yogi Berra is attributed to saying this but it predates him by a century.

    Annual Inspection vs. 100-Hour Inspection

Anybody who tells you that it makes a difference which book you put the inspections in is full of it. THere's no requirement to have a separate engine and airframe log, it just makes things easier the two part company with each other. Hell, I even have separate prop logs. 100 hours and...

Mechanic in Annual Inspection Replaced ELT that hadn't expired and charged me for it

I ran into this with a former IA. She insisted that the battery was good for only half of the stated expiration date. I pointed out the ICA that came with the unit specifically said that the date of replacement is the date printed on the battery.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

You're describing weather conditions, not flight rules. First off, unless you're in the surface area of controlled airspace, ceiling is largely irrelevant. For class D, the only constraint is that large/turbine aircraft maintain 1500 UNLESS required by the distances from clouds. Light guys can...

Mechanic in Annual Inspection Replaced ELT that hadn't expired and charged me for it

Why not. Artex batteries run around that even without labor.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

There is no such thing has MVFR as flight rules. MVFR is purely a weather classification.

    SPL vs PPL

As far as the poking and prodding goes, they're hard to distinguish. But the DOT treatment of various conditions is extremely limited compared to the FAA. The have roughly the same standard for hearing and vision, but diabetes and seizures are handled differently (DOT actually does...

    SPL vs PPL

A non-flight physical or even a DOT one would neither meaning anything for flying nor would it be a predictor as to whether you could pass an FAA medical.

    SPL vs PPL

61.23 very much requires a medical for taking a checkride unless you hit one of the exceptions (basic med or light sport). There is an ambiguity in the regs where sport pilots soloing non-LSA. 61.23(3)(i) indeed needs to have sport pilot certificate added to the list. I'll work on that. I...

    Grease on prop

This isn't too uncommon when some idiot services the prop. You don't just put a greasegun on a zerk and pump away.

GA transportation of (personal) firearms and ammo

Know the law where you're going. Carrying a gun into an FBO office in parts of Virginia is a felony. These are not limited to B and C airports. They codified every terminal building that had at least one airline flight (even just some EAS puddle jumper) as banned.

    UPS rant

Yo No, it's not true because your statement is false. This is verbatim what you said in the post I was responding to: Notary fraud is possible, but DocuSign really doesn't have any identity mechanism at all.. Notary fraud is possible, but DocuSign really doesn't have any identity mechanism...

    UPS rant

That's not true. They are rolling out some enhanced identity stuff and in some states they are allowing such in lieu of an "in person" notarization. ENotary when effective in NC on July 1 and Docusign is one of the recognized providers.

    Annual Inspection vs. 100-Hour Inspection

We just did annuals every 100 hours when I was involved in the flight club management. All it takes is the an IA doing the job (a regular A&P can do a 100 hour). The reg says "annual or 100 hour." You don't need to EVER see 100 hour in the logs as long as you don't let 100 hours go...
