    Single Pilot "Emergencies"

Of course, Delta just had another poop-related diversion.

    Single Pilot "Emergencies"

Years ago we were in a wine shop and they had this decanter. My wife asked me if it reminded me of anything. I said, yeah, it looks like a little john with a lady-j adapter.

    Oh, those silly geographers.....

I lived there from 1959 until 1987 (with one year in Colorado). There was south of the Mason Dixon line and then there was the real south. Having lived in MD (Bowie and Baltimore and its burbs) and Northern Virginia, there's a world of difference between that and the Carolinas and beyond.

    Class I and hearing loss

The standard is that you can understand normal conversational speech at six feet when you can't see the examiner's lips. If this doesn't work, there are standards for audiograms. Usually, you don't even know the examiner is doing it. Here are the audiogram standards Frequency (Hz) 500...

    1963 C182F can't find a gauge for 32.5 gallon tanks

Frankly, I'd recommend you replace it all with EI's new senders and fuel indicators. It's a world of difference than the 1950's era automotive senders and indicators.

Insurance Company Throws A Logical Twist

AOPA does not. They have teamed with various underwriters and brokers over the year (for a long time it was Avemco that is headquartered next door). Frankly, after a few go rounds I find most AOPA-endorsed stuff was a good deal for nobody but AOPA.

    Oh, those silly geographers.....

Having grown up on the east coast, I always considered California to be west. Colorado (until I moved there) was "midwest." Maryland is kind of ambiguous when it comes to north vs. south.

    Egregious FBO charges

It's all the same pool. As one of our friends say, we're both taking hits on the 100LL crack pipe.

AME’s that work well with people with Special Issuances?

It's not the sympathy of the AME you need. They don't have the discretion here. You need a knowledgeable one who can help you put together the stuff you'll need to attempt to get certified. Unfortunately, the combination of those two items in your history is not going to bode well for you...

    My sweet honey at C81

I've had slow death and absconding. This was a quick drop where 90% of the bees were dead at the bottom of the hive in two days. It's got to be chemical. The biological problems wouldn't act so fast.

    My sweet honey at C81

Up until last year I had this observation hive in the back stairs of my house The problem with this hive is that when the bees fill it up, you have to split the hive (no way to add supers). One day I'm staring at the thing thinking "I've got to split this soon or they'll swarm." Two days...

    Egregious FBO charges

Hey, I feel for you. My wife needed to use the bathroom and we popped into GYY which used to be a quaint sleepy little friendly place. Theyr'e still friendly, but that bathroom stop cost her $50.

Little Star V Thrust Tug - Dewalt drill powered

I have two of those. It's a VThrust Tugger that was exclusively sold through Sporty's. For a while the problem was that there were no current DEWALT drills that fit in the collar (it clamps on to where the "hammer drill" side handle would go). I was cornering the market on used Dewalt 987...

    Egregious FBO charges

Yeah, that's 7 years ago that they made their pathetic claim to demonstrate their impotence. They knew it wasn't going anywhere, but issued this press release to convince the AOPA membership that they weren't just ****ing the dues away.

Finally! Liability Only Insurance for Older Pilots

There is sometimes available "not-in-motion" coverage available. I looked into this when my plane was down for an extended time for renovation. It was covered if the hangar fell down on it or something, but not if I was flying or even taxiing.

In aircraft oxygen solutions for short flights and up to max. altitude of 10,000 feet?

Oxygen is cheap until you run out. I got one of the Nelson/PreciseFlight demand regulators (works like a scuba regulator). I've heard good things about the Mountain High folk as well. It greatly extends the bottle life.

    Cats

Long time rec.aviation denizen Geoff Peck (and the author of the DUATS flight planner) used to fly with his cat. The disconcerting thing was when it learned how to howl into the microphone of an unused headset. Haven't been flying with the cats yet. But my bird loved flying (especially if...
