$10,000 to get off Delta flight

One time, family and I were flying LAX-PPT (Tahiti) on Air Tahiti Nui (A340). There was a person whom I presumed to be a non-rev in the jump seat at the aft (directly opposite the right-side lav, like, 4' from knees to potty door). Making idle conversation while waiting for the lav when we...

Can I file/fly IFR right away, or need to wait?

You should be able to file IFR to fly home from the IR check ride, and should have gotten paper to prove it.

$10,000 to get off Delta flight

Sometimes, it can work for you. Wife and I went to Maui for a board meeting (hey - it was *work*!); DFW to OGG in coach is not my idea of a good time, so I had bought First (and the diff in price was not all that ridiculous). At the time, there were tow non-stops each way, each day, about 2...

    Oil pressure decreasing?

(Head hangs in shame). What I get for posting drunk. Ignore all remaining references to the vernatherm. Like he said. (Shuffles off to slit wrists).

    Oil pressure decreasing?

So, reduced oil pressure, no increase in oil temp. Low-hanging fruit is a sticking pressure regulator; can get a chunk of carbon/gradoo/grunge on the seat and lets more oil through than proper, yielding a reduced pressure reading. Could also have a broken spring, which could mimic the symptoms...

Las Vegas to Eastern Oregon in PA-38 Tomahawk

Concur, especially since it’s a plane whose history is a relative unknown.

    You gotta be s****ing me.

Because they had the opportunity to settle within policy limits, and chose not to do so, hence exposing the insured to greater damages. In Texas we call this the “Stowers Doctrine,” and it exists to protect insureds from a carrier’s unreasonable refusal to protect the insured from ruinous...

[This is not aviation related] Salsa vs. Hot sauce

Bryan, it's a regional thing - but growing up (as if I did!) here in Dallas, we always called the bowl of stuff you got with the tortilla chips, "hot sauce." "Salsa" was never used until the seventies rolled around, and in those days, if they called it "salsa," you could be pretty much certain...

    Meigs 2.0?

Don't talk silly-talk. It is both healthy and wise to routinely challenge the scope and scale of governmental power; raising the issue is hardly the equivalent of advocating for the utter absence of governance. The countervailing argument one might posit would be that we should simply accept...

    Theaters

CJane and I went to see a movie a few weeks ago (The Lost City, good fluffy fun plus, Sandra Bullock, so hubba) at the movie house in Fredericksburg. We were the Only Ones In The Theater. Effectively, a private screening. I found myself wondering: if we hadn't shown up, would they have...

Piping music / movie to every headset

Well, I’m a big liar; the 403 does have music input capability (still mono). http://www.flightcom.net/pdf/403mcManual.pdf Read about muting there, as well. Might be a nugget you can use.

Piping music / movie to every headset

The 403 has no provision for music input, and (of course) neither does the CP136 Narco (although you do have an unswitched audio input on P101, pin 6, which could send music kinda half-assed in mono, but I bet that ain’t the plan…). So, maybe there’s some sort of roll-your-own solution going...

    Avionics education please

So much depends upon the plane, and how much value you can justify pouring into it. As suggested above, post a picture of the panel today.
