    Inflight phone calls?

I’ve actually found much better luck getting usable GSM service in more remote areas, where you hit fewer towers. It’s when you hit a lot that the system pukes (technical term). In fact, I have conducted lengthy conversations, perfect clarity, while flying 10,500 over west Texas. Data not so...

    Cheap international cellphone service

The best cellphone connection provider for someone who (1) wants to travel internationally a lot, and (2) wants to be able to use it as a cellphone when traveling (as opposed to only being able to make calls when connected to wifi) is usually T-Mobile. They have seamless, no-action-required...

Foreigner woman - Private pilot license

Marion: Thanks for coming back - you just made my day! Do, please, keep us posted on your progress. We'll all look forward to meeting you in person one day soon, perhaps at a fly-in. Where are you doing your training, and in what aircraft? Tell us more!

    15 yr old High-functioning autism

I'd advise a consult with a skilled and knowledgeable AME (AeroMedical Examiner); there is so much we don't know, and worth considering is the number of throw-down diagnoses of school-aged folks, motivated by over-eager school officials. No idea whether this applies to you or not, but learn...

    Weird Real Estate Sale Price

Varies by state - some states (California is one) required disclosure of transaction prices (property taxes being based on transaction amounts), while others (Texas, f’rinstance) do not. Taxed based upon “assessed value,” which in turn is a ripe topic for argument.

Note: You can use aluminum feeders with appropriate terminations. Lotta that being used these days.

    New battery

So, this is interesting. As noted above by (someone else), if the battery's weight is within a pound, it may well be installable with a mere logbook entry - up to the A&P and his/her judgment. Of course (and as you've noted) there are STCs which have been created for certain battery / aircraft...

Leaded gas and the EPA...here it comes

PAFI is essentially a dead program - it failed. None of the PAFI participants could field a fuel that worked, and was realistically producible. No interest in rehashing it, but the reportage and a little research can show you that the core limitations and requirements of teh pAFI program...

    Monoclonal Antibody Infusion

Tragic, and so avoidable. Of the three people I personally knew who have been claimed by COVID, one was already infected and in ICU before vaccines were available, and the other two “didn’t trust” the vaccine.

Leaded gas and the EPA...here it comes

That is the low-compression (230HP) IO540; no use for the majority of the 540 fleet, which still cannot use Swift's UL94. It is (and will remain), by avgas volume, a niche product.

Car gas and Av Gas basically the same price in LA

I'm in Waco, TX tonight, and gas is .25-.30/gallon cheaper than in Dallas. No idea why. Interestingly, when I moved from California back to Texas (1990), gas cost pretty much the same there as here; now, it is what I can only characterize as "ridiculously more costly." I admit to not knowing...

Best electrical connectors for an in-cabin PTT disconnect?

I always favor a positive-locking Cannon plug. Install with a switch, as well, to select between (1) the intermittently-present right yoke PTT switch, (2) the PTT on the single yoke when it’s flipped to the copilot position, or (3) a separate, panel-mount PTT switch, for when there’s no yoke in...

    What's in Albany?

Keepin' it classy as always, Dave! How you doin', anyway? -- Bryan: I have friends in Albany (who really enjoyed Texas when they came here); if you need something, I can probably help.
