EliQuis (a blood thinner) and Basic Med

Thanks all. I have a follow up appointment with my Dr. next week. This DVT was provoked, not hereditary. So far, no bruises and no signs of internal bleeding. I'm sure the clot is still there, but if what I think the clot is, it's significantly diminished from a week ago.

EliQuis (a blood thinner) and Basic Med

I'm on EliQuis for up to three months. A long post about it is here. My leg is making a rapid recovery and I hope I don't need it for that long. I did a little research, and the FAA requires you to be on it for at least 2 months before you can apply for a SI. I'm flying on Basic Med. What...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Thank you. I've been in engineering the better part of 50 years, and solving problems is what engineering is all about. My flight simulator is all packed away so I won't be using that for a while.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

TLDR: I'm temporarily self-grounded for up to 3 months. I'm on a blood thinner EliQuis for a DVT (blood clot) in my calf, and a couple of PEs (blood clots in the upper section of my right lung. They want me on it for 3 months. I'm hoping I can heal faster than that. I probably first got them...

    About to get started! (Again)

Welcome. Do all of your cross country work to PPL requirements so if you decide to get it, you won’t have to redo them.

Saving my iPhone 10 background picture without taking a screenshot.

Thank you. I tried your procedure, but the picture was not found in the library. I'm still looking for a way to retrieve the file that is in the lock screen memory.

What's wrong with a dutch roll in a passenger jet?

This was to wake up my feet on the rudder pedals. It worked. I spent about 30 minutes doing that, then did my first two spins and my first to rolls. So, I guess I had my first aerobatics lesson.

What's wrong with a dutch roll in a passenger jet?

No, it was a stalled Dutch roll. Use the rudder to hold the nose steady while you bank left, then immediately bank right.

What's wrong with a dutch roll in a passenger jet?

About a year ago, my instructor had me doing stalling Dutch rolls. The plane never went inverted but it came close. It's good practice for waking up your feet on the rudder pedals.

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

He paid for it with a $20 and the vendor didn’t give him any change. The Buddhist asked for change and the vendor told him he should know that change comes from within.

What's wrong with a dutch roll in a passenger jet?

No, you use the ailerons to bank the plane the way you want to turn. The increased lift on the outside of the turn wing causes more induced drag which pulls the nose away from the turn, so you use rudder to bring the nose back to the turn. I find it works best for me if I lead with the rudder...

    Questions about mixture leaning

Continental had FADEC on their Liberty XL but pilots didn’t like it because they thought they could manage the engine better. Last I heard the Continental IO240F was no longer supported.

A Question about a Question about Basic Med

I'm studying aviation knowledge using Rod Machado's Private and Commercial Pilot Handbook and Workbook. I ran into this question in the Workbook, and the material isn't covered in enough detail in the Handbook: If you completed the BasicMed checklist and physical exam on May 10, 2017, and the...

Absolutely sucks loosing a fur baby

Thank you, all. Somewhere in the Harry Potter saga, Hermione tells Harry he has the emotional depth of a teaspoon. I thought that was me until I lost Tammy, and now Tuffy. But they are in a much better place now. My sister is much better connected to the spirit world than I am. After I had to...

Absolutely sucks loosing a fur baby

I had to put Tuffy to sleep a week ago. He was about 18 and until a major seizure, loved his walks and his food. I got up Friday morning and he was laying on the floor, surrounded by his poop. Apparently, he had a seizure and pooped. His paddling around the floor scattered his poop and I think...

Saving my iPhone 10 background picture without taking a screenshot.

I have a special picture of my wife and me singing karaoke as the background picture on my iPhone. I want to save it so I can back it up. It’s actually a picture of a picture and there’s no way I can see duplicating it. I know how to get a screenshot, but I don’t want anything else in the...
