Is this a Pontiac W7 engine or a WZ?

Thanks for the link. I think I'm turning into a Pontiac gear head.

Is this a Pontiac W7 engine or a WZ?

Thanks. I was afraid of that, and I thought so, too. I'm no expert, but the car in question seems to have a numbers matching price on it. Not only did they swap engines, but they also went to a newer, smaller engine, so, that lowers the value, too. It is a gorgeous car and would get me lots of...

Is this a Pontiac W7 engine or a WZ?

It's the difference between a 1969 Pontiac 6.6L or a Pontiac 1970 5.7L The partial VIN on the engine isn't even close to the car's VIN. Obviously, inquiring minds want to know.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Well, 3 weeks after my lesson 8/23/2024, I had another lesson this past Thursday. I had weather and equipment issues in between. We had some cross winds, so I did a couple of ground reference maneuvers, twice each. Turns about a point and S-Turns. I got a little tight on the upwind side the...

Trained in 172 and want to move to a Cirrus

I'd say, restart training in a rental C-172, etc. Once you've re-soloed, then look at buying that Cirrus, if you like flying it and it meets your needs.

Tool box recommendations for future A&P mechanic

And now, for a different perspective. A neighboring farmer told me that Snap-On is great for bolts, etc., that you loosen and tighten regularly, but a lot of bolts on farm equipment are so rusty the Snap-On tolerances are too tight to get the wrench on. I wouldn't know about that, as Dad and...

Best first plane for under $100k

I'm surprised to be the first to say: "Get a Bonanza." Single Engine Bonanzas for less than $100K I just noticed they are all V-Tails, and the last I heard getting replacement ruddervators was nearly impossible. Thread drift: Would it be worth even looking into re-engineering the ruddervators...

Best first plane for under $100k

I don't have a plane to recommend but consider buying a two-seater that meets the rest of your criteria, then if/when you fly with friends, rent a more powerful, IFR capable 4-seater. I'd almost consider a 150/160 HP C-172 a 2-passenger airplane with 4 seats.

Why has Vashon sold so few Rangers, and will MOSAIC turn that around?

The way I heard it was if you want to fly an LSA, you need a miniature wife who packs light.

Looking for a great airframe to mount Rotax 9 series

Well, if you can find a project or kit, anything from the Pulsar line. Unfortunately, Pulsar is a true orphan company. Both the designer and owner are dead. They died in a crash in the Andes.:(

Right. My Spidey Sense kicks in when it seems things are going too well or are too easy.

    Rock solid

Yes, trim is your friend. When I remember to trim the plane for 65 knots on final, I don't have to worry about unconsciously pulling the yoke back and getting too slow. Not a lot of smooth air east of the Colorado Front Range, especially in the afternoon. So far, it hasn't been any worse than...

Monday works for me. What time is convenient for you? Forgot to mention that Saturday I'll be recovering from a late night of Texas Hold'em poker.

    Spin training

I had an hour of dual in a Citabria with an instructor last year. The goal was to wake up my feet. I got to where I was as bad as he was with stalling Dutch rolls, then he had me do a left spin and recovery, a right spin and recovery, a barrel roll left and recovery, and a barrel roll right and...

Hi Murphey, Thanks for the offer. Are you around Labor Day weekend? There's no instructing going on then. All the destinations sound great. I'm not so good flying right seat. Just so you know, Crash

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I had my third lesson with my third CFI yesterday. I worked on my roundout and flare. The last 3 three landings were my best. The third from last he helped quite a bit, the second from last, just a touch, and the third was all on my own, and it was the best of the 5 landings I made. We called it...
