Setting GPS on a Garmin watch

Haha, I'm glad the OP figured out the issue. I've had a Forerunner 301 for years and have nearly 500 miles on it now. It's actually an amazing invention, and Garmin (as usual) was way ahead of the times when they put these things on the market. You can view and graph all runs on your computer...

    Photography Question

You're having better luck than me. ANY shot in my friend's seneca is worthless, this is with a D300 and Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8. There's so much distortion in the window/windscreen that nothing ever looks in focus (even when it's in optimum focus)

Best Flight Time LogBook for Iphone / PC

Hmm I never spent a penny on LogTen Pro on my iphone, but I'm not sure what the limitations will be? It's worked well so far, but like I said I can't really use it since I'm training and my instructor is filling mine out and will be endorsing it, etc. This kinda thing would be good for notes...

My nephew is an aircraft designer, here is his latest creation...

Doesn't seem to have very good visibility? ..and that idiot on the wing is screwing up the CG :)

Find a hole in this squall line!

Hahaha I sent an image exactly like that to my CFI last night and said it might be hard to get around that one!

    My quest for my license

Thanks for the words of encouragement iASCIIart, it had happened a few times on landing but this was baad, even my instructor told me to pull off so we could check it. I'm sure the same people who did the nose wheel damper did the nose strut (always deflated..) Yeah the brakes felt worthless...

    My quest for my license

 sounds like.. fun? haha I know what you mean, it would be fine with a pilot friend in there too. I can't wait to go to an event/fly-in! My CFI is to the point now where I think he's trying to not really do anything to help, since I'm nearing my first solo and he's judging my SA/ safety...

    My quest for my license

Ohh okay, I knew the general type of AC but not the details - still, that's exactly why I figured it'd be a good idea to train in. I mean when you start with a cessna, everything's only going to get harder (well, except maybe getting somewhere  ) We flew out to Shenandoah (SHD) for out...

ATC vectors SWA Flight to intercept NORDO Cirrus

Wow haha, I was just cracking a joke about the speed differential.

ATC vectors SWA Flight to intercept NORDO Cirrus

Wouldn't the 737 fall out of the sky before he got close enough to look in the cockpit? Fly-by? lol

How many miles on your cars?

Ehh that's not too bad for retail - I can get a cheapo rack for the land rover.. $400 (one of those OEM-equivalent brands) but that's going to be far cheaper than the $tealership would charge. Mine's been leaking for years and is covered in PS fluid, but the levels never seem to drop so screw...

    Runwayfinder.com back up.

This.. is incredible. Is there an ipad app that lets you pre-download the entire vfr chart and view it pinch-zoom style? I mean a SIMPLE app. Zero options (except maybe brightness) - that would be really cool. edit: yes, I've been living under a rock

    My quest for my license

Probably just as well.. I very highly doubt you'll be in a high-wing for the rest of your life :ihih: might as well start off in the warrior! I've gotta get myself in a low-wing, but I'll probably wait till everything is done. Jeeze every time I look at the syllabus and all the material I've...

    Crosswind landing Technique--right after touchdown

Sorry I was off topic actually - earlier I was explaining how my CFI mentioned the slip method and the crab method for crosswind approaches, THEN I related it to his preference of landing techniques in general (which is what I was talking about in my previous post). As far as crosswinds go...

    My quest for my license

Well said, and the same goes for cars now that you mention it (speaking of that and M3s.. I'm gonna be scoring some beer/pizza later this week when my friend wants his radiator replaced!)

    Crosswind landing Technique--right after touchdown

Sorry, I was rather vague.. I really only know what he's shown me, but from what he told me the other day - many schools do it differently. I realize anything I say will get the "well duh, that's how it's supposed to be" remark, so I'll ask for a clarification tomorrow. :cool2: From what he's...

How do you identify your airplane on the radio?

I kinda want to say "Skyhawk blah blah" instead of "Cessna blah blah" but I suppose it's all the same.

Best Flight Time LogBook for Iphone / PC

LogTen Pro is a first-rate app; very stable and has every option imaginable yet allows quick data-entry and search functions. Even records your currency statistics based on how many landings you've made (for vfr and ifr) and hour limits within given FAA timeframes. Trips, reports (can pull all...
