We are closer than ever, please contact your representative

Medically speaking Junior, your time creeps closer every year. So, stand by. No bitchin'. Here's some reasoning. A mechanical aortic valve installed a few years back means it's unlikely I could even get an SI for a 3rd class. At age 50, I run 10Ks and half marathons, snow ski, bike, and...

    Constant Preheat?

I used the exact same setup for years on a 182RG. Un-metered electric in the hangar. Ran it 24/7 from Nov. thru Apr, with a blanket over the cowl. The airplane flew once per week at a minimum. Former partner still uses the same setup today, so 15 years and no problems. Change out the heater...

    I TAKE IT PERSONALLY

Unfortunately, I doubt you've spent much time in the SZ. It is often personal attack.

    I TAKE IT PERSONALLY

Most of the bile on here leaks out from the SZ, and it is exactly for the reason you stated. There is a small contingent that prefers personal attacks, degrading commentary, and innuendo.

    What a jerk..

Watched a Canadian F18 "fly" a tied down 152 against its ropes on the ramp at the FBO in Rochester, NY after the air show circa 2002. The 152 was parked on the line behind it, and the F18 demo pilot stopped by for fuel before heading back to base. Didn't seem to phase the line guy, who watched...

    can pilots have BPD?

Yep. Those of you who have had someone with actual BPD in your life understand this perfectly. Those of you who haven't, should count yourself lucky. Hard core BPDs struggle with self-awareness, as a key factor in their mental illness is denial, and the inability to rationalize. The fact...

    iPhone 6 or 6 plus?

No. When you build the UI views in Xcode, you specify target devices for which a particular view displays. The iPhone 6+ is still an iPhone and the code treats it as such. A separate view is coded for iPad devices.

Discussing GA Risk with Family / Friends

No, not so much. It's a higher risk activity (the biggest risk is between your ears). The airplane you fly hasn't been designed to protect you in a crash (crumple zones, air bags) at speeds and forces that are terminal. You accept the risk. Why does it matter that others accept your...

    Emergency Revocation of License

If he no longer has an airplane, or flies as reported by the OP...why does this matter, other than principle? An emergency revocation comes from some type of "recent" activity. If he no longer flies, and this event was years ago, that's not very recent. Me thinks that he has recently done...

    Crash near me

Recognizing that it is malfunctioning or has failed completely, and you need to switch your scan to the TC is the issue. Ever watched an AI "roll over" and found yourself wanting to follow it? Forcing your brain to ignore it "if" you recognize that it has malfunctioned is another issue...

    TSA Pre-Check

Sure, just a different levels. If I'm a frequent flier on an airline, and send most of my business their way, I expect to be valued more. It would be very socialist to expect everyone be valued the same. Pay more, use more, get more. Nothing wrong with that model.

    TSA Pre-Check

Who cares? I'd pay many times that to keep my shoes, belt, and jacket on, and not have to fumble with liquids or go through the scanner.

    TSA Pre-Check

Yes. $85 well spent. I fly 30 times or so a year on business.

[NA] Need a new house thermostat

I installed the Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostats at our beach house. They have a nice iOS / Android app that allows you to control them remotely. A hour or so before arrival, adjust the A/C or heat. Amazon.
