    EFB's With Bravo Entry Warnings

On the 430? Yeah, I usually forget about it until it yells. I just worry that an EFB will really distract me with flashy lights and loud noises at the wrong moment.

    Equifax Breach

That detail was likely being provided... but they don't tell the whole picture. It takes domain specific knowledge to actually understand the reports... and people tend to glance over the stuff that is bad or incomplete. PCI scans look great, but are often meaningless. Pentests by the...

    EFB's With Bravo Entry Warnings

I don't really want that feature. If I'm near it, I know it. Last thing I need is my EFB randomly making noises every time I turn. My 430 already has airspace warnings, anyhow, and I routinely wear out my MSG button to make it stop flashing.

    Equifax Breach

Except that it does nothing other than soothe the court of public opinion. It does nothing. These chief executives likely had no idea and left it to their employees to do their jobs. But I wouldn't mind one of those severance packages.

    HAM radio

KE5HHG here. I haven't done packet in years. In fact, I haven't done much operating in years... Maybe I should set a rig up again.

Sandbar touch and go. Bad idea. But legal?

Airshow performers get MSA waivers and acro waivers. Without them, the regular rules would apply. Landings (and takeoffs) are already excluded from MSA by statute. There is nothing to be had that will discount that.

Sandbar touch and go. Bad idea. But legal?

This seems to be one of the few realms where safety culture has fermented into unqualified, non-stop arm chair quarterbacking and claiming anything but vanilla missionary-style operations are unsafe and worthy of a felony conviction and jail time.

Because people don't seem to understand defense in depth.

How to learn to do owner allowed maintenance?

And people wonder why many tire shops now have cages for the fill.

    Check your NOTAMs

LM did good with the 1800wxbrief.com site. I usually use it for my briefings, when I need something better laid out than GP will give me.

Has any news surfaced of investigations in to the stock dump yet?

    Airplane ownership - real numbers

The metric that none of the spreadsheets account for is flexibility. There is no way to account for the freedom to drive to the airport at your leisure, with no prior coordination required, start up and fly at your whim.

    Equifax Breach

I had created a calendar notification to remind me to go back and sign up for the free credit monitoring... just did it at 0016 CDT and it let me. Now I have to wait for them to "process" my application. No timeline provided.

    DUI reporting question

Wonderfully written! I should have thought to articulate that point as it drives what I've been saying home.

I'm not sure how to parse the necro-reply, either.

    DUI reporting question

Because "increased tolerance" (per the instructions) to alcohol would apply if you have a single drink with dinner every night. That'd be dependence per the document. I guess nobody who ever has a beer should be flying? According to some, any alcohol is dangerous... and if you have to climb...

    DUI reporting question

It'd be relevant since dependency/abuse may be considered a diagnosis, right? How are we to know what the specific criteria are. If you haven't been arrested/convicted or otherwise been diagnosed, how could you be expected to check yes? I've been digging through the AME site trying to find...

    Engine Stutter on Approach

My 76 Skyhawk used to take water in one tank when it would rain. First annual, the mechanic told me they had to be changed... never once have I taken rain with the new caps.

    DUI reporting question

Could the FAA reasonably expect the applicant to know what their definition of abuse is? It's self-reported, and we're not doctors. As far as I recall, no definition was on the medxpress form, either.
