Anyone have a good plane gun?

Depending on what I'm wearing, there's always a 1911 on my hip or a Ruger LCP in my pocket. I keep meaning to get a 10/22 takedown for the plane for some longer trips, but just haven't gotten around to it. The Garand would be fun to haul around, but it's heavy and ammo is heavy :)

    "Triple-three seventy two"

Let us remember that there are no regulations in place to tell us how pilots should or shouldn't talk. And that's a good thing. We don't need nor want a pilot equivalent to the phraseology in the .65.

    PIREP: QT Halo's

Agreed. That's why I figure it was weak before I had it. That being said, it took two years to manifest, so low intensity vibration had ample time to do its damage.

    PIREP: QT Halo's

No, they're relieved. I think it was a bad joint that was further damaged by vibration.

Which radio goes to which antenna?

With enough power, yes. RF can excite a fluorescent light. A common demo is to put one in front of a radar dish and watch it light up.

    PIREP: QT Halo's

With time, technique gets better and this becomes a 15 second activity. Cosmetics are secondary to function and service. I've had to send my Halos in for service once, after I caused a solder joint to pop... quick turnaround, and they function great. You may not like the cosmetics, but the...

Which radio goes to which antenna?

The RF energy entirely, not just the voltage. If you want to key a radio without an antenna, attach a dummy load to absorb that RF.

What is the purpose of the Carb heat

No more carburetor. Fuel injection removed the carb.

Which radio goes to which antenna?

The moral of the story is the part that makes the radio make noise in somebody else's radio will no longer have magic smoke. Serious: Most modern (non-aviation) radios have protection against this particular idiot move, but I don't know if any aviation radios do. If it doesn't protect itself...

    Always consider consequences of behavior

Maybe somebody just watched Flight again and thought he'd ask around. Or some crackpot "investigative" reporter trying to get in to the dirty lives of pilots.

Young Girl Dreams of Being a Pilot

All the parcel carriers are just as good and bad as each other. None of the national/international guys stand out in any direction.

No, but it's better than trying to play football with a round ball and terrible injury acting!

Whirlygig: the troubled life of the J-2 autogyro

Based on what the article said, I'd argue that it wasn't more dangerous... just more likely to roll. My quick search confirmed that none of the rollovers caused any injuries. That may make it far less desirable to own, but not necessarily riskier in that arena.

    Wings Over Houston Airshow

I have to be in Dallas that weekend, but I'm hoping to leave early enough Sunday to get back for at least part of the Sunday show. This will be the first time in years I haven't been :(

    Stupid $5 Registration

I sent in my paperwork during a sequester. Fortunately, as my pink slip expiration was approaching, they sent me an extension without me having to ask. My paper card showed up before the extension expired.
