Only an equilateral triangle would benefit from what you're talking about, and even it could fall through the frame if it's rotated appropriately as it falls.

I agree with you. The law doesn't say no, so it's not illegal, thus it's legal. I'm just saying that there *could* be local rules/law/ordinance to that effect. Local rules can add additional burden beyond the law as well, since it's not illegal for them to add local rules. That being said...

Sure, but the G5 is entirely internally contained. It has no standalone antennas. So long as the installation uses a navigator that plays nice with FIKI, how would a G5 change the compliance story?

I work from home. I don't wear many pants, either, but my webcam isn't plugged in, either. I had some leadership want all of our webcams on while on calls, but he eventually noticed that the security guys just wouldn't and left us alone :)

I'd think a marketing limitation would be "no touch the fiki stuff" -- but excluding the more expensive airplanes means alienating the market that tends to have more income available for extras like G5s! I wonder if it's a liability thing since the G5 can't interface ice detection systems...

When they do that, you say "thank you!" In all seriousness, they may have known what they were doing and either trying to save you the jet wash, or knew the jet would have to wait on an IFR release, and didn't want to tie you up.

A buddy's policy (AA5) didn't require anything from instructors. They're docile airplanes to fly, and I'm sure the actuarial tables will reflect that.
