    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

I see. 6-6-2 is in the "NON-RADAR" section. I stand corrected.

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

LOL me neither! I know the guy knows his $h!t but I just don't see it in this case.

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

Hmm, ok, I checked the reference here : https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Order/ATC.pdf Not sure how this relates to my contention, which is: I do not believe a controller will assign a "Pilot's Discretion" clearance in a non-radar environment ... This reference says pretty much that...

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

Thanks for the reference! I will look that up. I'm just trying to figure out how it all works together...I'm sure all these 3 publications (FAR/AIM/ATC) have to decompose a problem from 3 different perspectives, but in the end they should all jive with each other.

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

Correct! Don't think I knew that AIM off the top of my head...I just thought it would be cool to prove Ron Levy wrong LOL :)

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

Why is his assumption "incorrect" ? Do you have any reference? Seems like a very plausible assumption that ATC will only issue these PD clearances in a radar environment, especially when AIM 4-4-10 (c) has no specific requirements for reporting anything (other than the required...

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

Other than congesting the frequency unnecessarily there should be no fuss. In the case of the OP I guess ATC was trying to direct him (us) to AIM 4-4-10 (c)

    "Descend Pilots Discretion Maintain..."

There is NO mention whatsoever in that (very specific "Pilot's Discretion" AIM entry) that the pilot should report leaving the altitude that he was just given leniency to leave!!! So I really don't understand what the fuss is about here. It's very clear that there is no need to report it.

    ForeFlight Trap/observation

And to make it more useful, with yesterday's update (version 6.7) they added a "wind barb" layer to the map, with selectable altitude....so now it will be really evident why your GS sucks :)

    ForeFlight Trap/observation

Sorry to the OP for digressing...thanks for the FF tip!

    ForeFlight Trap/observation

You're paying for outdated paper sectionals and AF/Ds...you have to get your frequencies from somewhere.

Job offered in job/seeker mismatch scenario.

By the way, do you guys mention in your resumes that you're pilots? I was wondering that.

Job offered in job/seeker mismatch scenario.

I'll tell you what he's thinking: he's tired of Indian nationals that don't know $h!t about technology but are semi good at faking it. Don't take me wrong, this is not a racist comment but the reality of the IT industry in this country today. I'm also an IT guy (Java and Oracle in my case)...

    Back to the drawing board

Where are you in the Tampa Bay Area? Can you make it to KVDF? If so, I wholeheartedly recommend Chuck Norris (yes that's his name). He was my primary and instrument instructor, nice guy, knowledgeable, AND most importantly he has no interest in going to the airlines, he does this full time out...

    Commute by Plane?

Says the guy in the Mooney.... 152 to an Archer II is hardly an upsell PLUS good luck finding an IFR 152. After he finds a decent 152 he has to dump another $25k to make it IFR and for that he can get a decent IFR Archer. Let him take a ride in a 152 and see what he thinks LOL

    Commute by Plane?

That's 2 planes man...there's something in the middle of those 2. The guy is not a millionaire or he wouldn't be thinking about a 152.

    Commute by Plane?

mercurial, huh? and you work for Google you say? so you guys use "hg" for source code repository? just curious :) I'm a low time (180 hrs) instrument rated private pilot. Took me exactly 1 1/2 years to get here (from zero to Instrument Private)...and I'm an IT guy also (Java), so our...

    Flight Following- Center vs TRACON

I open ForeFlight, find the blue dot, touch and hold the closest airport to said blue dot, go to Info->Other Frequencies and tune in either the Approach or Center frequency found there. They will ask you to ident and will give you the right frequency if it's not them. PS: the A/FD as mentioned...
