F/A 18 down in San Diego Bay

Oh... I've seen that more than a couple of times, believe me. I was talking about a new version, y'know... though I don't think the water off San Diego is all that clear. Probably best to just watch sonar from above and drop a charge.

Is that like fishing with dynamite?

Had a guy do that where I grew up. Instead of getting fish, it floated up under his rowboat and he found himself swimming with a rowboat in multiple pieces…

As Pugs pointed out, wasn’t me. Small community though, I instructed with one of them and instructed the other, a while back. Glad they are ok!
Any speculation on what might/could have happened. What’s bouncing around in my head is they were either doing a practice approach and intended to ‘miss’ or planned a full stop and something went wrong and they had to miss. Either way, when pushing the levers forward, the engines went nips up.

Can’t really speculate here.
