Arriving from the east on Sunday morning, possible weather, assume landing east.
Anyone know if it's likely to be the PHRED.THRNE3 ?
How do they handle crossing any vfr VNY traffic, the 08 approach appears to go right over the runway end of VNY, and not terribly much higher than TPA.
Lots of info on noise abatement, the phone number offered for info on that in the AFD is not answered - I think I have it narrowed down to 'largely not applicable' to my situation (Ce-525) - confirmation would be nice.
Any other local tips welcome.
Edit: oh - the fires, as of now looks like they will be unlikely to affect my operation?
 
Of the times I've been into BUR it's from the NE and have always landed on 08. From the arrival it's RV to the east and over VNY, it's either at or above a certain altitude or at a certain alt to intercept the ILS. I've always departed on 15 too. Then again it always in a jet too, what you fly may be different.

I was going to say you'll get ether the LYNXX EIGHT or JANNY FIVE but I see there is a THRNE THREE there now that brings you in through the basin instead of the desert. You're as likely to get a Visual Approach to RWY 15 as 08 if the weather/winds allow. To see how the crossing over VNY thing is resolved, look at the Missed Approach Procedure for the ILS Approaches at VNY. Why the Y doesn't have the "A descent to at or below 1750 may be required when executing an early missed approach" that's on the Z, I dunno. It should. I think it may be charting error.
 
From memory, i believe you stay at 3000’ till you pass VNY. There WILL be vfr ceznas in the pattern below you. Be ready for traffic advisories. That will leave you a wee bit high on the GS. The loc / gs is wonky on the east runway, so hand fly it or your AP will jerk you around a bit. No tips if the pax spill their scotch. Not a difficult airport at all really. Just don’t land long and go on an excursion as some have done.

Flying a 182 it's been the same for me after coming through Banning Pass. Vectors to ILS over Van Nuys into 08. Then depart 15 and left turn to intercept V186 heading southeast.

The LOC only altitude is 3000. The Glideslope goes over at 2753
 
We used to go to VNY from Dallas. When the THRNE arrival came out we tried it. Center wanted us to descend very early, >300 miles out, that was around 2 years ago. For the rest of the trips, we used the JANNY or LYNXX, which ever one center wanted.

Read and fully understand the SIDS, especially the RNAV ones, PPRRY comes up quick. It is around 1 mile past the end of the runway plus there is a max altitude until you get past the end of the runway.
