The "Holidays"

My parents roll into town tomorrow and leave on Thursday. I feel like that's an appropriate amount of time. :p

As we used to say in show business; "please come & see us! Be sure to eat breakfast, bring your lunch, and be ready to be gone before dinner!"

My family just stayed with us for a week (left on Saturday morning) and my in-laws are here now. I like having extended family around, but I also didn't grow up with much of any family beyond my parents and siblings, so I think I appreciate it more.

I only have my wife and my mom for family here in the US. Christmas only last a couple hours for us.

Some folks call me lucky because all my inlaws are in The Philippines. And there are a LOT of them. Plus the PI doesn't do Thanksgiving, so Christmas starts some time in September.

From the in-laws perspective, we’re delighted to be here!

I’m just making the suggestion that maybe one family member should not wax on indignantly and aggrievedly about an injustice regarding their sibling & the perceived inequality of shared bedroom floorspace…..from literally 55 years ago.

I was buying a mattress once. Whilst the salesman was gathering information, right after mentioning it was for the guest bed he said “so you want a 2 day?”

Huh?

One that’s comfy for two days. Then they wanna leave.

Yep!! That’s the one I want!

During COVID, if you had family over, the police could force their way in to your house and remove all your visitors.

I want to know if that service is still available, and if you have to book it ahead of time.

Three days always seems about right visiting or being visited by family.

I love my folks, but that's definitely about right. :D

If you want something fun to do tomorrow, start an argument and insist that Scrooge was visited by four ghosts, not 3.
