Hi all,

I want to buy an electric airplane tug from San Diego and get it shipped to Chicago area. Anyone making a trip / flight? Trying to find a method to ship it for a few hundred bucks. Thank you.

Weight: 117 lbs
Size when folded: 26” L x 19” W x 15” H

I have a gasoline powered tug that I would be happy to sell, here in central Wisconsin. It hasn't been used for the last three or four years but did work great with my Bonanza and my Cherokee. If you have any interest, we could meet halfway and save you the shipping headache. It comes with a tire chain for ice and snow. I'd have a small engine mechanic tune it up and change oil before selling.

Disassemble it.
Palletize
Call Nationwide Freight for quote.

You enter the details of what you want to ship, companies give you their quote, and you pick. I've never used it but have heard good things.

Henning could have helped you tug a ship.

I've used UShip numerous times including shipping disassembled aircraft. Also motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs. Never had a problem. Always good comms with the drivers.

I was getting bids for $1900, I probably need to wait longer?

FedEx $235
UPS $132

And Citizen Shipper... the trick, no time constraint, and you will usually get a better rate.

I don't know much about shipping heavy and awkward items, but $132 to ship a 117 pound item more than halfway across the US as an individual (not a company doing routine shipments) seems pretty reasonable to me.

That was using goshippo to get the shipping label. I am totally fine with those prices. Unfortunately the guy sold the tug to someone locally. Sad day for me.
