As with all televised sporting events, I didn’t catch the fight. But what I’ve read about it sounds like a disappointment for all. Tyson today is an entertainer more than a fighter. The other guy’s resume sounds like he’s only an entertainer. How did two entertainers put on an event so deeply unentertaining?

In other unworthy-of-a-thread news, I am posting from an airline lounge. I stayed at the farm last night so I could sleep in until 4:00 and drive 2 hours to catch a flight with a 30-minute layover. Due to low oxygen bottle pressure, slow maintenance paperwork on a Saturday morning at the remote regional airline outpost, and even slower deicing, my flight was delayed. I hit the ground at a run and made the 3/4-mile distance between gates in less than the 7 minutes I had, but they had just closed the door on me. Now I’m on standby for a flight 3 hours later and hoping against being stuck on an even later one. Total travel time is going to be 11-13 hours even if nothing else goes wrong. It would have been 3.7 hours in my own plane.

The Tyson-Paul fight wasn’t about the matchup, it was about generating/motivating a younger audience for boxing and Netflix proving they could livestream sports.

I don’t think either business objective was fairly met.

or a pathetic attempt to generate an audience so a utube personality could sell more sugar water and body spray. What it ended up being was a horrible to watch fight where a 58 year old man got beat up by someone in their 20s.

Does anyone watch boxing anymore?
 
I watched a youtube video. I did NOT watch until the end, I did NOT like and I did NOT subscribe. "there's a rebel lying deep in my soul"

Is it one product "energy drink and body spray"? Because that sounds both horrible, and a rip off of an old Saturday Night Live skit.

Re boxing, no, I don't think so. I think this last one was officially Fonzie doing the water ski thing.
 
Ah yes. “Shimmer”.

Not my generation. Body spray, etc. The new Old Spice commercials showing a dude lathering himself in a bath tub. I guess it speaks to the target audience of Gen Z, although Old Spice is a Baby Boomer brand. Now, get off my yard and stop listening to your weird music while pop in a REO Speedwagen cassette into my Walkman.
