Looking to build a hangar single story home inside, any ideas?
This ^^^... One example and benefit of the RV is you can pull it out of the hangar if you need the space inside.Just build it wide enough to park a nice RV inside so it can be connected to power, water, & sewage. Nice place to live and when you are ready for an overland vacation just hook up the truck and go ...
Did you guys do a second phase? I don’t remember it being that big when you let me park on the front lawn way back when. Or the runway being that green, for that matter. Here's pictures of my hangar house: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjzFxZ1
Yes. The original house had the hangar and garages along the taxiway. I wanted to be on site when we built the real kitchen, living room, master bedroom, etc...That's the "L" that extends parallel to the runway. The room we were using as a bedroom is now a guest room when we buildDid you guys do a second phase? I don’t remember it being that big when you let me park on the front lawn way back when. Ok, I had to click this link. A fold out house you say? Sounds interesting! Some of them look pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen so many 2.5 star ratings though!I hear Amazon has fold out homes for sale.
Build the hangar and then foldout a house inside.
Depends on what your local codes are. Here in North Carolina, a residential hangar of 2000 square feet or less only requires a two hour firewall. That means a solid door and double (or thicker) drywall. That's what car garages on houses up in Virginia required.I've seen plans for two story hangar homes with the homes on the second floor. I'm no expert, but I think you'd need a fire barrier between the hangar and the living area.
Also, you'd want to make sure any workshop chemical fumes don't make it into the living area.
There's no practical way to build a hangar attached to my house on the Erie Airpark, so it will be separate from the house.
