Paradise Lost?

That definitely doesn't look pretty. If you need to bug out, you're more than welcome to our guest room.

Thanks! Got room for the cat, the dog, and the horse? :)
There might be a barn down the road for the horse and the cat can have the office, but the dog would have to make do with the shed in the backyard. LOL

Looks like Hurricane Milton is headed for Florida this week. I'm near the right tip of the base of the "L" in "FL" on this map.

Lucky! If it stays on track, you'll get a few minutes of peace and quiet during the storm.

Pity your poor neighbors to either side, who won't be fortunate enough to have the eye pass directly over their home!

:)

Seriously, good luck, hope it turns out to be a near-non event.

Looks like it's homing in on your radio. I'd turn that off right away.

More seriously - hope you're all good and the thing fizzles before it reaches land.

My daughter is in Seffner, FL*, just east of Tampa, so we’re keeping a very close eye on Milton.

Usual open invitation to anyone needing to bug out to N GA, E TN.

*Seffner is best known for its sinkhole. A while back it swallowed a man sleeping in his bedroom who was never found!

Hopefully it will weaken before you get the worst of it, but it's looking like cat 3 when it hits the gulf shore.

If you can fly the horse up here, I'll be happy to meet you at the airport with a truck and horse trailer and board him until the storm blows through!

Thanks, brother, but not necessary. The World Equestrian Center ( https://worldequestriancenter.com/ ) has generously made stalls available for equine refugees. The facility is built to withstand storms and they have veterinary care on site.

My wife and some of her barn friends are taking a load of horses up there tomorrow.

Our own barn has made it through several canes and I’m sure the horse would be safe here, but SWMBO will worry less knowing her horse is safely tucked into a modern, strong facility.

I think it will weaken by the time it reaches us as we’re well inland, but we’ll see. From the NHC forecast we only have a 10% chance of seeing hurricane force winds here. TS force is about 50% probability.

More and more I appreciate living in the timezone everyone ignores. Yes, we have snow storms. Even a tornado on occasion. Don't forget the forest fires and a flood or two. But they are few and far between (well, not the snow storms).

My sympathies to all impacted by the hurricanes, and I donate for your recoveries.

I feel your pain I’m just outside of SRQ ,the plane did well during Helene, watching this one closely, but it doesn’t look good.

As it appears now if I were in the path I'd be looking to make tracks outta there ...

Keep us updated, @Half Fast . I'm in MD, so don't have much to offer you except hope for the best (or least worst, from the current looks of it).
