Not an "air camper", but an kit from Zenith Air to build a towable camper. I think it would be a blast to build one. The estimated cost is $10,000 and it comes using the predrilled hole matching system that Zenith uses for their kit airplanes - ch-650, ch-750 and the super-stol. Airplane building techniques that result in a camper.

I don't think it's an actual product yet, but I hope we get to see it.

It certainly caught my eye at KOSH, that would be a fun build. I'll make a call to the factory as they say they are evaluating interest right now.

I didn't see the estimated build cost - where did that number come from? Was it on some materials at the show?

I think I read that price in an article somewhere. I know I got 10k stuck in my head from something. I suspect a kit would be far less, but once you start buying stoves and batteries and tanks and such, it could get expensive.

All I would want one for is to pull to Wisconsin and down to Florida once a year...but it still seems like a really cool build. What do you guys think, 200-300 hours in the build if you're starting with a trailer? Seems like internal finishing would take the longest.

Certainly true - but this would be fun! And satisfy a project itch.

Also, if they will have a "just a shell" option (like what they had at KOSH), those who are sitting on a serviceable but low value pop-up camper could pilfer it for the furnace/stove/sink/fridge/tanks/batteries/etc.

Dad and I both thought it was a cool idea. Hopefully they have an option with opening windows.
