Touchdown! Greaser!
I'm renting a Turbo 182T for the OSH trip that 'appeared' to not have XM Weather or Radio packages enabled (no weather or audio available last time I flew that plane).
I was going to activate them for the trip, on a one-month subscription, but the call to XM today indicates that they ARE activated.
I recall a thread on here recently, where other said that their 496, 696 or Aera devices have stopped reception if turned off for too long. In the 182's case, it's in a hangar and doesn't fly as much as the 172's, so can go a long period of time without seeing a satellite signal.
Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to share this url that support gave me, in case it helps others in the future. At least you can fix the issue yourself, without having to call XM.
REFRESH YOUR XM RADIO: http://www.siriusxm.com/refresh
All you need is the radio id from the device, no other account information, so it works for rentals as well.
Enter the radio ID, and it will send a refresh signal for the next 15-30 minutes. Best to do this from the FBO computer just before you go out to the airplane and fire it up, or from your smart phone after engine start.
