I want to build out a dual frequency Stratux, but can't seem to find someone that can print a case. I'd like the case to also have the openings and mountings for a fan to keep the unit cool.

Anyone able to print a nice, dual antenna case for a reasonable price? If so, please reply with price and which case (I've seen quite a few online).

Thanks!

Steve, since I don't have a 3d printer I searched around and found https://www.3dhubs.com would link you to a large number of guys that would print in my area. But, the price was all higher or just above https://www.makexyz.com and I saw that a number of folks on reddit were happy with cases printed by makexyz so I ordered mine there as well.

I used helno's case (larger, since I built my stratux before the smaller dongle's were available). http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1016829

If you are assembling a current version, you can use the smaller dongles and smaller case with the antenna's on one side.

Hope that helps.

I'm looking at these and notice there are different kinds of materials for printing the case. Which offers the sturdiest case without warpage, and a reasonable price? I would venture to say I will have this on the dash of the plane, so direct sunlight.

I'm thinking about this one. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1013857
Anyone try this one? Any comments on it?

This is the one I printed out. Works well so far, had to cut out a little in the opening for the power cord and the SD card slot but that could have just been error in my printer. Its fairly new to me as well and I don't have it completely dialed in.

Make sure you have it printed in ABS (which is generally trickier to print with).

A standard PLA print will literally end up melting on you if you sat it on the dash in an airplane in the sun.

I figured the same thing. I did a little checking around and came to the same conclusion.

I found a great cardboard box in my pile of them from Amazon that works perfectly. :)

Tupperware also works.

Yeah I just hadn't bothered to dig through the garage yet for a plastic tub of the correct size.

The Amazon boxes are everywhere since we moved to a rural house. They multiply like rabbits while we are sleeping, I think.
