I'll get right into it. I am 17 and had an attempt around a year ago.

Some info to add:
I was never diagnosed with anything
This is the only incident of ideation
I haven't been prescribed or taken any medication
I have been in therapy once a week for about a year

I understand that the general consensus is a 10-year moratorium. Truthfully, I have no problem waiting, but realistically how great would my shot be to receive a 3rd class medical? What could increase my chances?

Edit: It was because I was struggling with my junior-year academics. I was not eating regularly and functioned on about 3 hours of sleep a night. I wasn't sad about anything, just incredibly tired. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I just thought I'd add it.

Generally speaking, the FAA wants you to be truthful on your application; glossing over things is a federal felony, so don’t turn a medical problem into a legal problem.

You’d want to consult with an AME who’s dealt with this before, but the FAA has a pretty hard line on the 10 year life test. Get healthy first, then investigate sport pilot flying which dies not require a medical.
