I was in the 3rd aircraft to land at it. However, I was a passenger; no way would I pilot my own on such a windy day. At times it was difficult to stand straight while walking into the wind. And I wanted a platform to take photos, though it was a tight squeeze in the back seat of a very nice Comanche(and a low wing a/c not being the best platform for photography). But otherwise, a super day. I'll have photos to post but they're still downloading.

I talked with Mom today on the phone and she told be the "new airport" at Brunswick was open. too bad I missed it by a year to land there.. having flown to Maine last May. I'll be back to Maine in May for a weekend, but this time no plane with me.

Hope everything works out great at the new airport. That could open up a lot of summer tourist traffic along the coast with a decent FBO to park at away from PWM or RKD.

Bill:

For orientation, from the starboard back seat of a Comanche(and a bumpy ride from Wiscasset -- strong winds), here's looking at RW 1R from Base; Final; barely before touchdown; and the greeters. There was a larger group already inside awaiting the ceremonies.

The runway to remain closed for the immediate future is to the left, as is the new(now unused) tower; U.S. Route #1 is directly ahead. It was rather unusual, seeing the newest tower on the left and then taxiing past the large NAS Brunswick building on the right, with the other tower(original) attached.

Maine is the only state whose Congressional delegation is a female majority.
Rep. Chellie Pingree(D); Sen. Susan Collins(R); Sen. Olympia Snowe(R); and
Rep. Mike Michaud(D). Each was waiting to officially open Brunswick Executive Airport.

Thanks for the pics! Still too much snow..
I remember seeing the Blue Angels there for the first time when I was still grade school.

The Blues will be appearing there August 27 and 28 of this year.
