Wish I had a camera with me

Flew a Lifeline flight on Sunday and when I dropped my passengers at Bloomington/Monroe Cty in Indiana there was a jet black PBY Catalina on the ramp. Apparently it had been purchased by a doctor based in Indianapolis a while ago and had just been returned from a complete overhaul and refurbishment on the west coast. It had been painted black to look like a "Black Cat", a night operating squadron of PBY's. The doctor had also had two plexiglass bubbles custom made and fitted on either side behind the wings. They were just firing it up as the pilot had been receiving instruction all week and was just commencing his check ride.

Man, I wish I had a camera with me.

Apparently, its based at that airport if any one finds themselves in the vicinity.

Hey Barry, I had motorcycle parade that had to be 200 bikes go by Sunday. Which was that?

I have sat in one several times, a guy here used to own one.

It was an original "Black Cat" and an amazing aircraft. My wife missed a flight in it due to school and is STILL kicking herself over that one.

To see that thing take off from the grass strip at our fly-in community, to hear the engines, man what an amazing site, sound, and feeling!
