Does anybody besides me find that they don't receive WINGS credit for attending AOPA/ASF seminars?

I've attended three seminars in the last couple of years (one by a speaker who was excellent and two by a speaker who wasn't). I didn't go specifically because of WINGS credits, but while I was there I did hand in a registration card with my email address as my identifier, hoping that they would indeed give me credit. But they didn't.

After I received no credit for the first seminar, I emailed a FSDO and told them I was new to WINGS and that I wondered whether I was doing something the wrong way, to receive no credit even after waiting a long time after the seminar. A very nice FAA employee manually entered some info to give me credit for that seminar. After the other two seminars I similarly received no credit, but I didn't want to bother contacting anybody about it.

I'm just wondering what kind of experience other people have with this.

The folks organizing/presenting the seminars are responsible for getting the seminar WINGS credit. If they forget, but the seminar was listed on faasafety.gov, any FAASTEAM rep (there are several on here) or CFI (lots) can give you credit for attendance if you've got a card or other proof of attendance.

Some folks do present seminars but don't associate them with WINGS. Generally, if you learn about the seminar via FAASafety.gov/SPANS, you'll get WINGS credit.

Let me know if I can be of any help with your WINGS goals - I'm a lead rep.

Never had any problem other than one time. You do have to fill out a card or sign-in sheet and it takes them a long time.

If you did attend and did that, tossing AOPA an e-mail with my full name and Certificate number, got it fixed pretty quickly.

Otherwise, how's your penmanship? Reading and typing in all of those cards must suuuuuuuck. ;(

I make sure to check the box on the registration card that I do want a completion certificate. After I receive it via email I go to the WINGS website, find the seminar I attended, and request credit designating AOPA/ASF as the validator.

Tim suggested that to obtain credit I submit some confirmation that I attended, but I have none. I just showed up, filled out the registration card, listened to the presentations, and went home empty handed.

That sounds like a good tip. When I attended I didn't make that request because I didn't realize it had any use for obtaining WINGS credit.

When I just showed up and filled out the card, I also never received credit.
Lately, an attendance roster is usually prepared, and everytime I signed it, I got the credit. Look for some kind of roster --- Also, know who your FAAST members are and ask them for the roster (cause THEY, not the presenters, are responsible for giving you the credit)
