Windy.com as a route planner

The interface is godawful, but holy cow the information is awesome.

I love/hate the fact that they have weather data 10 days out. Love it for planning, hate it cause it probably won't be accurate, and I'll just keep staring at it for 10 days.

Interface by Minecraft, sort of an 8 bit interface in a 4K world, but the information is top drawer.

Still headwinds in both directions on my planned flight this weekend... :dunno:

It works on my iPad but not on my mini iPad. Any ideas why?

I've been using it a lot. On the right side you can call up cloud bases. Very helpful for planning but like it has been said, don't use it for more than a day or two out.

Will have to try Windy, I use it for weather. Some of the 10 day out stuff can be fairly accurate, of course I leave some flexibility in my plans. I also look ten days out, then recheck at five, and then two to see if there are any changes in the predictions. I like sky vector for route planning, but it doesn't seem to do much in the way of weather. I also like 1800wxbrief.

Is this a paid premium version feature? Can't get the planner option to show on my phone..just updated to make sure I had latest version, but it's the free one.

works without signing on my iPad. Long click to get the menu.

FlyQ does wind based altitude planning...not route planning but also useful.

Not very useful without route planning IMO. What’s particularly nice about this is that it’s showing the forecast along your route for the time you will be passing.
