No winds like that in Olympia, but we've got plenty of snow on the ground.

The strange thing was, we had a break yesterday (Saturday). Sun shining bright when I got up. Winds were near calm (just a mile or so west of Auburn WA airport (S50) where I'm based. About an inch or two of snow on the ground...was really looking forward to flying.

However, the forecast was calling for high winds in the Cascade foothills, about 15 miles east of home. I could see a haze around Enumclaw (right at the base of the mountains). Through binoculars, the haze had a brownish tint...which was probably dirt being stirred up by the wind.

I didn't fly. By 3 PM, it had clouded over and had started to snow again. We've got eight inches, right now....

This was my wife's Jeep Commander this morning. There is a 12 inch ruler standing on end in the snow on the hood. Anyone see it? I don't.

Now, with the "warmer" weather today that snow has compacted and melted a bit, and an inch or so of that ruler is showing. Of course, it's supposed to snow again tomorrow evening.
