Our new homestead has enough land that we could realistically have a plane here.

Here's the list of wants:

- E-AB (do my own annuals)
- Foldy wings (to get through some of the areas between storage and take off)
- 2 seats preferred
- Can run on MoGas (and not burn much of it)

I flew a Kitfox IV with a Rotax up in Utah a few years ago. I generally liked it. Kinda tight inside, but you're not going to be in there for very long. Can be a trike if you don't like the TW plan.

I like the design and execution of the Kolbs but if the engine quits, I really don't want my body being the second thing that hits the ground after the plexi.

Zenith CH-701 fits the same bill as the previous planes posted

I don't think the CH-701 is a folding wing. Maybe some were modified, or a special kit, but the basic doesn't fold AFAIK. Maybe they are quick remove?

Nope. If you look at the manufacturers page, a folding wing kit is a factory option for the 701 at $560. But even without, the standard are apparently pretty easy to remove, but perhaps not enough so for a daily task...

Huh, I've looked a maybe a half dozen, and none of them were folding. I've looked at dozens of pics and never seen one folded. Ok, it's there for an option.

I've visited the factory and have seen them demonstrated. Wouldn't hesitate if I could afford it. There are some very entertaining videos of their capabilities available (links on the website).

You copied Dean Wilson's design requirements list (Avid Flyer). Denny did a good job of cloning the Avid with his Kitfox design. And, there are other with a similar wing fold such as Preceptor Ultra Pup (tandem instead of side by side)

The Avid is a bit tight inside if you are a large person. And, there are a lot of variations in wings / gross weights. But it is probably the best folding wing out there.

You'll get in trouble with these planes with all the places you can land and takeoff from :D

They are ugly as all heck but they sure do preform.
