My wife and I flew up to Bar Harbor from Laconia for lunch yesterday and came back a couple hours before the mishap. Nice day to fly But the winds picked up as we came home and I was surprised at the mountain wave off the relatively small mountains.

It looks like they had completed the ILS Rwy 4 at KLEW and were flying the published missed to a hold at MOYER. They made a direct entry, were a little wobbly in altitude throughout the turn and the outbound leg - the published altitude in that hold is 3000. They entered at at ADS-B altitude of 2900 (take that with a grain of salt), but at some points were 2-300 feet under that while turning outbound. Everything seemed to go bad in the turn back into the inbound leg. It was a -10,000 fpm dive with increasing groundspeed at the last ping.

Nothing really remarkable about the METAR.

Real mystery. There shouldn’t be any LOC issues with two pilots on a clear day.
