There's one at Midway, but O'hare doesn't seem to have one. That's the one thing I look forward to when I have to fly here :(

Now I'm no 16 on a 73 person standby list. Ahhh Thanksgiving travel...

Last time I was at ORD, I made it to #8 before I completely disappeared off all the boards (standby, cleared, SOL, etc). Hope you have better luck!

I spent a full day in non-rev hell at ORD, once- started out by watching a DC10 with 130 empty seats pull away without a bunch of non-revs (including my sister and me) because the gate agent was a goof and was issuing boarding passes One. At. A. Time. And they cannot hold a flight for non-revs (nor should they).

Next flight had about 15 seats for non-revs and I was down at about 32 or so; with each successive flight, we moved further down the list (lower pass priority). Almost bought a $900.00 one-way ticket, but (through the magic of SABRE) found a sneaky routing, got home about 16 hours after I started.
 
ya gotta quit trying to get on the big popular airplanes felix. i flew standby on half filled ERJ's from wichita-st.louis-des moines. i was #1 of 1 on the list every time :)

Yeah, Felix, that sounds like a challenge -- see if you can get from ORD to California flying nothing larger than an ERJ. :)
 
Spike: it's rev and I'm 1k. But I guess status doesn't count for anything anymore anyways.

Tony: Agreed completely. Hopefully, this is the last time I'll have to make this trip commercial.

Sounds like someone could use a P-Baron :D

I don't know if it's still there or which ORD terminal you are in, but the United Terminal has/had a Berghoff at one end. IIRC the food there was not too bad.

Tony - very unlikely. But I might be stuck in Kansas City for the night ;)

Pete - yep, wish I had that plane. I'd be home by now....
