Why is this plane so cheap?

Early v tails usually arent that expensive. this one has a pretty paint job and low time engine with basic radios. the KX170B is broken and it has a fuel leak. the guy owns a bonanza but can't spell beechcraft

That's not the only thing he doesn't know how to spell.

It's a very basic plane. Small engine, rudimentary avionics, 1948 model year....I don't know what those go for now, but it can't be that much.

Also - he says "its a joy to fly at 160MPH" but has a placard that says that Vne is 144mph....

It ain't that cheap, Nick... like they all said.

Check the AD list, I believe that model has a BIG AD on the wing beam.

It's good to know that the "guages" work. One never knows with "Beachcrafts."

Nope, no big AD until 1958 and later as the gross went up. I watched it, don't know why it didn't sell. That's a good deal for a decent plane with some nice options. The only downside on these early ones is the castoring nose wheel steering, and pretty slow moving gear and flap motors.

Pull the throttle back to 22 and 22 go about 155MPH and burn less than 10GPH LOP. You can use auto fuel too if you want. It has the 82" prop but it's hyd for those that don't like the elec style.

If I didn't already have a better one, I'd buy this.

<Edit; OK, on the speed restriction, these planes require a one-time AD for skin thickness testing. I'm guessing that the test hasn't been done yet. When it's completed, the speed restriction goes away, and VNE is back up to 202MPH. The tests is a pain in the butt, and no aircraft have ever been found out of spec. It is in place of the ruddervator cuffs that go on the 1951 and later models.>
