The original "I don't know it all" of aviation.
I will be traveling to Charlotte, NC, June 28 for an interview with Piedmont the next day.

Who is in the area that would be interested in a meet up?

Good luck with interview!!

Piedmonster. Flying the mighty 145. Unless theyve fixed scheduling its a place you really need to live in base. Its really inefficient flying so even as a lineholder your gonna be down to min days off.

There are quite a few of us here in CLT. Happy to meet up. Am even willing to put you up although that's getting personal. I'm so out of it. I had no idea Piedmont was still an airline. In the 80s I dated a girl whose father was pretty senior at Piedmont at the time they were acquired by USAir. If it weren't for him, I might have even considered an aviation career. He hated it so much I opted to keep aviation as a hobby.

Thanks for the insight....

What's going to happen post interview is yet to be determined.... This is as much fact finding for me as it is for them.

They rose up my list a few points with this weekend's announcement about pay increase.

Thanks for the offer of bunk space. But they are providing a hotel.

Piedmont is now owned by "American Airlines Group". More info at www.piedmont-airlines.com

Hey, @AggieMike88. I’m in CLT and talking to Piedmont recruiters early in July. I already have a pretty fully student schedule on the 28th, but if I can swing it, it’d be great to meet up.

They resurrected the Piedmont name to use it for the regional subsidiary so they didn't lose the rights to it.

My airport was originally developed by Zeke Saunders, the Piedmont VP/Chief Pilot who passed about ten years ago. We're just up at the outer ring of the class B (NC26)

Copy..

it's been an interesting few weeks... I've had my info in on AirlineApps.com for a few months now. But ever since I updated my times to show 1375 TT, there have been more recruiters reaching out.

With the pay rates that were just released, sounds like you timed it right! Good luck with the interview.

For those wanting a meetup, my flight to CLT arrives around 1300 local. And I think I'm staying at a hotel just off of Little Rock road and I-85.

if we can plan on an 1830 start time, that should give us enough hang out time. Just need someone to choose a place and maybe provide transport.

I'd have been glad to come down, but I'm going to be up near IAD cleaning out my stepson's condo (he passed away a few weeks ago).

(he passed away a few weeks ago)
My condolences....

This is the second time we've missed one another....

The other time was many years ago when I went up to Statesville to attend one of Guy Maher's Cessna Cardinal Clinics.

But if I get and then take the job, there will be other times....

I would strongly consider other options than Piedmont.

Plenty of reasons are available online at other forums. You can also PM me if you like.

Care to elaborate?
If I had to guess its schedules and type of flying. Lotta short legs and work rules that don't pay you for soft time. So 16 hour 4 days minimum days off cause you can't get 80+- hrs except for working down to min days. Which leads to a schedule that looks like 4 on 2 off 4 on 2 off 4 on 2 off 4 on 2 off. With maybe one of those off periods being a 3 or 4 day off stretch depending on days in the month and carry over days. So you have to live in CLT or philly. 145 is dying quick if its around in 4 years i'd be shocked they are old and have an expensive gear overhaul at 40kish hours or cycles I can't remember(even some of XJTs newer 145xr's were approaching 40k much less the LRs or w/e they have). Piedmonster is also a ground service company first so when AA cancels 145 flying they are't gonna ramp up 175s so then what happens hope to get stapled? Rolled into the Voy?

Why not share openly for everyone to see? Or is this an attempt at spreading FUD?

Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but that seems like a rude response to someone that offered to take time out of their day to share their experience for your benefit.

Here's a resource you might find useful. https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/piedmont-airlines/

You're also still welcome to PM me.

Or, make your career decisions with less information rather than more information. It makes absolutely no difference to me where you go. I'm just trying to help.

I'm 50/50. My bonehead son backed into someone so we're down to three drivers and one car.

This pretty much sums up the sitrep.

Final bump....

I arrive tomorrow around noon-ish.

@Tarheelpilot will be meeting me and we are going to find somewhere good for lunch.

Who else is available to join us?

can't do lunch due to having to work and could do dinner only if it's raining heavily, otherwise tuesday is golf league after work.

Will be using the evening for review and prep.

Maybe we can connect next time.

Don't alter your plans for me, but, let me know if you happen to pick a restaurant inside 277. I ride my bike to work so I'm limited as to where I can get and cannot drive as we're still down to one car. Otherwise, maybe next time.

Share your contact info with me and @Tarheelpilot so we can loop you in
