Whaty was this guy thinking.??

Crimes committed from 2010 through June 28, 2013, was convicted on June 13, 2019. So he quit committing crimes 6 years ago?

Back in the late 80s and 90s, anything US aviation related being sent to Central/South America had to run the Miami gauntlet. It was a racket. Once several trade agreements and FAA reorganizations were completed, you could use other locations like Dallas or Houston to originate shipments/approvals. Looks like the next generation picked up the pieces.

Unusual that anyone goes to trial on that kind of case. I guess he thought he could beat it. A deal would have seen him 1 year and 1 day at a minimum facility.

Obtw. That's what is meant with bribery in the bribery statute. Just in case someone got confused ;-)

He has to surrender to the feds on Jan 6, 2020 to begin serving his federal sentence. Soooooo... ;)

Yes, that is definitely Miami. Miami has lot of good points but not being a bit of a banana republic is not one of them. Years ago and well before I picked up my aviation again, my ex-wife was the office manager for a fellow that ran an FAA repair station and both him and his dad (running a different repair station) were nailed for some pretty shady business with undocumented parts for Big Aluminum.
