What's the cheapest airplane you ever rented?

The one in my profile picture was $15/hr.

I did my primary training at HVR in 1970. 1966 C-150 was $8/hr, $13 dual.

As a point of reference: I was working in a service station making $2/hr. I worked from 4PM-Midnight M-F and 8-10 hours one weekend day a week. I went to school 6-8 hours a day depending on my class schedule. With overtime I made almost 5K/year. My college tuition and fees (small state college) were around $140 per quarter which varied a bit with the number of credits taken. My rent was $65, gas and electricity about $10. I paid for my education, rent, food, car expenses and flying lessons with a little left for pizza and beer on the weekends.

I wish I had that much disposable income, as a percentage of what I earn, today. B)

Piper Colt frm King Aviation in Taunton, MA for $11 per hour wet in 1970. Dual was $18 per hour.

Ok, this one should be good for the old timers around here.

What's the cheapest price you have ever paid, wet, for airplane rental?

What kind of plane was it, and how long ago?

I'll start. 2009, Cessna 152, $65/hr. working on my Private, and that was a really good deal at the time. :)

I wish I was flying in the late 1990s when gas was much cheaper than it is today.

1976 - Cessna 150 $15 wet

For my IR I got a 172 wet with instructor for $30 or $35 hr wet. I did also have to do the labor on his annual on my time, the owner CFII was a friend of my boss. Next best deal was an ancient 150 with the baby moon hubcap for a spinner and pull handle starter for $42hr wet.

I was in the Pan American Flying Club with one dollar a month dues and 5 dollar an hour dry C 150 rental in 1970 at KTMB, Tamiami Airport in South Miami

1989

152 $35/hr
172 $45/hr
172rg $54/hr
Archer $50/hr

wet rates

Instructor $22/hr

90hp Champ $8hr, wet. Most expensive, 737-200 $59....a minute!

Piper Colt frm King Aviation in Taunton, MA for $11 per hour wet in 1970. Dual was $18 per hour.

43 years later I now rent from King Aviation. They've since moved to Mansfield, MA and now they charge $140/hour wet for a C172SP. They've also changed ownership, but I'm pretty sure their history can be traced back to the same King Aviation you used to rent from.

Piper Warrior 2, $50 wet, Ellington Field Aero Club, Houston TX 1992
:dunno:

...sometimes I dislike you old people :)

Best I've done was $80/hr wet for a Sky Arrow. 2012...

But it's a whole lot cooler than a 152, so there's that :).

c-150 $20/hr wet. $10 for CFI. 1977

Apache twin $60/hr dry. 2013

Oh, currently have a Cherokee 140 and a Cherokee Six for $10/hr dry....special "friend rate".

I'm currently flying a 172 for $70/hr (tach) wet in my club. Beats the hell out of the $130/hr hobbs that the flight school charges to rent.

1994. C-152 for $35/hour wet. PP instruction was $15/hour. If you bought $500 blocks they took off 10%
This was at KPCM, Plant City, Florida
