What would a new Luscombe set me back?

Wow. I am sorry to see this, but I wonder why I am not surprised. I wish I had seen this a few weeks ago. I am interested in the Garmin stuff but have no way to get down there.

Well, I don't know about the financial angle, but it would set you back a lot of time because you'd be out flying all the time and loving life while you do it!

Greg, which Garmin stuff, shoot me a PM.

Nevermind, They say you can bid online, but their online auction site shows nothing available to bid on.

I have a guy at the auction. Tell me what you want and what price and I'll proxy for you.

I'm still tempted to go down there. But with that low bringing snow....I don't know if I wanna be stuck in OK for 3 days.

Well, what I have the desire for is an SL30 and the accompanying GS/LOC indicator and a transponder/enconder. As for how much? A literal steel, but I haven't priced the stuff to know what I am actually willing to pay for it. Thing is, I really don't have a budget for it right now.

I didn't see those (SL-30) on the list Greg. Maybe I missed em. I was hoping to score the GTX330s

My guy said stuff all sold high except for airplanes that sold for less than I had expected. Garmin avionics sold for more than dealer cost. Some almost-new fully certified and flyable for less than $70k. Type cert and tooling brought $500k. He came back with very little.

Thanks for the pirep Wayne. The more I thought about it, the more I figured there would be people down there paying more than they should for stuff. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get a GTX330 the old fashioned way, find one in an airplane on the ramp somewhere. :)

(Yeah, I know it won't work - a 327 maybe)

$500k. Wow.

Those planes, for $70k - pretty good deal, I think. Not for someone who expects to readily resell, but the components are pretty much off-the-shelf, so a lot of new plane for a little cash.

Did he tell you how much the "almost-planes" sold for?

30-40k for uncertified birds

Thanks, Wayne. Now if I just had an extra $70K...
:lightning:

$70K is the opener. add 30-50 k for radios, interior, prop, engine. For the real details on those folks check out

Apparently they do not deliver on their contracts/promises, and have ripped off more than a few folks.
