Evidently people here don't understand the term "layover"
Boo hoo.
I don't have the bomb shackle mod on my RV-8, and that's about the only place I could have carried you! lol2nd place winner.
But I'll w/d your nomination since you could have easily stopped to pick me up en route to KOSH.
Anyone know what the longest range, single-pilot, certified aircraft is?
Max Conrad flew a standard Comanche 250 from Casablanca to the west coast, 6000+ nm without a ferry tank. Does that count?
My longest XC, stopping only for food & fuel, was Ft. Lauderdale FXE to Huntington, WV KHTS, then going an additional 4nm across the Ohio River to KHTW. No idea of the distance, and too tired to look it up (6.8 down, but I stopped overnight so it doesn't count; 6.2 with a fuel stop / lunch on the way back). EDIT: 743 nm, KFXE --> KHTW.
My longest jaunt was to Cody, WY KCOD, flew about 25 hours but stopped for sightseeing both ways and to tour Yellowstone. Distance was slightly over 2700 nm with only two diversions for weather before Instrument rating.
I'm 9,356% sure he meant WITH a ferry tank(s).
You're right. With HUGE ferry tanks. Seems he did it again, Casablanca to somewhere in Texas. Most any plane he flew seemed to have quite long range.
Why not include commercial as long as we were PIC ?
We're still piloting the airplane... It's not like we are riding in back.
Just for fun - what has been your longest cross country?
Here is the criteria:
1. Must have been PIC and sole manipulator of controls
2. No layovers except for fuel
3. Personal flight (non-commercial)
I don't have much to brag about but here is mine:
Departure: Olive Branch Mississippi (KOLV)
Destination: Indianapolis Indiana (KMQJ)
Flight Time: 3 hours
Distance: 345 NM
Aircraft: 172n
Honolulu to Lugano
We flew the boss from HNL to LAX and when we were on approach to LAX he came up and told us to go to Lugano. 17 hours in the Falcon 50.
It is just for fun so throw out there whatever you like. Just wanted to see what other pilots similar to myself have flown. Sounds like I am at the bottom of the food chain with my little 3 hour flight!
Well, since we've opened up the field to no-limit hold 'em, I'll throw mine out.
KBAD-PGUA. non-stop, non-great-circle route to add insult to injury. Never doing that again if I can help it. I did get fuel, 29,000 gallons in 20 minutes flat, but I didn't stop for it, so it still counts as a one-legger. I also took 8 engines and a parachute with me, but hey if you ain't cheatin' you ain't trying. #winning
Good work, and thank you for your service!!
Do you recall how many hours of flying that was??
Is that a question for me? I assumed 2020's mission was a military one. Commercial airliners don't do airborn refueling. And I assume you had a relief crew as that's SOP for commercial airlines, so you can't count that
