When trying to play some videos I'm told I need to install silverlight. What the heck is it and does it relate to Windows Media player ????

I've only ever seen ONE thing that required Silverlight - A "Switch to Windows 7" type of ad. Talk about not getting it! If I have to install extra software to see your ad... I'm not gonna watch your ad! Duh.
