What is he thinking?, GO AROUND

He meant to do that. Your inexperience has caused you to not realize that is a technique that really cool super seasoned pilots use to slow down on short runways and immediately go into fishing mode.

You guys are right. Looking at the video again I noticed his friend walk up from the beach to meet him.:D

There ya go -- notice the stringer of fish?

WARNING: DO NOT try this at home! These are experienced professionals who didn't just squeak through some pilot mill!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yeah, you need to start with something like this, and work your way up:

See this from IMDB.com re: this stunt......

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057193/trivia

The billboard that the twin-engine Beechcraft flies through was made of thin balsa wood, except for a thicker frame for support. Stunt pilot Frank Tallman had to fly the aircraft directly through the center of the billboard or the thicker frame would shear off a wing. Since the shattered wood would clog and stop both engines, the billboard was built just east of the Orange County Airport (now the John Wayne Airport. After flying through the billboard, Tallman simply lowered the landing gear and safely touched down on the runway.

Yeah, I remember a story from way back that in spite of the balsa wood, it crushed the leading edges of the wings of that Beech 18 and pretty much totaled it...

LOL!
Some terrific flying in that (very funny) movie... it was the work of the legendary Tallman himself.
Some pretty hairy stunt driving in that move, as well...

Ask Henning. I'm sure he'll tell you that in Australia, this is the preferred technique for rounding up crabs on the beach, and it was a superb technique shown by that pilot, and our judging is typical of something.

Rotor & Wing will say I have rating envy because this pilot has an IR, and I don't.

And Ed's wing is longer than yours, too...

It's a Mad Mad Mad World is a favorite of mine. I think everybody who was anybody in comedy at that time had at least a cameo. Also if you do not want to take the time to find it, someone posted the entire movie on youtube. Just do a search on the title.

har har smarty pants. since i attach two chunks of wood and fabric to my fuselage before each flight i tend to think of them as 2 wings.

63 for me. But wait until Greg checks in...
