The origami pieces I entered into the Ohio State fair. The dragon was entered in the Origami category, but surprisingly didn't win a ribbon, nor did the triangular box, which was entered into a category called box with lid. The judaic piece won a second for Hannukah decoration, while the lionfish earrings got a second in the jewelry (another piece of mine got the first in that category). The cupid was entered into holiday character, if I recall correctly, and didn't win a thing.

Ok Michael so let me understand this the Ohio State Fair has a Category for Hannukah Themed Oragami? Wow

Any way amazing stuff. I must say that I think the box is the neatest piece of them all.

Very nice!! My daughters do origami; they loved the earrings. And the dragon. And the box. ;) Thanks for sharing! I can't imagine what was there that beat these!

Very nice :) I was impressed with the 'cash cow' you made at 6Y9. Probably more appropriate for Hoppy's than the Ohio State Fair.

The origami category got judged weird, as the piece that got the blue ribbon was a series of very simple models folded from wrapping paper. It was done by a colleague of mine, who apologized profusely. Ce est la vie.

The box is actually about 15 years old, my wife keeps her jewelry in it. I didn't expect it to win a ribbon, since it was made for strength and longevity, and not looks. Besides, the wooden boxes were simply amazing. Yes, there is a category for judaica, but it is very small (and was won by the same colleague as won the Origami). That the piece got a ribbon was amazing, since it is just and old calendar page and a star made of wax paper.

I decided to make the Cupid when I saw the category for holiday character. It was designed by a friend from Antwerp, but did not turn out per my expectations. Ahh well, they can't all be winners. Thank you all for all the nice thoughts.

Nice work!
I get a little crazed just trying to make a decent paper airplane... the most advanced thing I ever folded was a box, or a ball, or whatever it's supposed to be (you inflate it)... not even sure if I remember how to do that one.
