What does it costs the taxpayer/s to sue an airport? (In case you aren't aware the Town of Superior, Colorado is suing Rocky Mtn. Metro, i.e. KBJC, over touch-n-go landings. This is the town that I live in. If you want more back story just look at the following: Superior, CO v. RMMA Lawsuit and Superior, CO denies aviation records).

Well, the numbers are starting to roll in.

On Monday (26 Aug 2024), the Town of Superior will have a mid-year budget review and the legal fees have increased 584%. Directly because of the airport lawsuit. And the town hasn't even had their first court date!

Things that make you go hummm..

Thought you might find this humorous or maybe not so..

Sounds almost like an HOA!

But the bottom line is not so bad. So, yeah, you got that going for ya.

All that is provided is to total legal expenses. A quick search show the city in at least 3 separate legal actions. How do you know how much they are spending to sue the airport? If your values are correct, the airport would similar values to defend. Which will cripple the airport financially.

Those fighting the airport don’t care how much is spent, their motivation greatly exceeds any about of money.
Especially when it’s someone else’s money.

I was just there last week and RON. Nice airport, busy, plenty of runways, FBOs, flight training, etc. The area has plenty of money. I’m sure a drop in the bucket for the airport.
