Let's see, my 2009 goals:
1) Buy/take delivery on my plane -
COMPLETE January 2009. Actually, the negotiations started in December, I signed the papers in the first couple days of January. Bought the Aztec and haven't regretted it once. It's been a great plane to me, and what's even better is how it's steadily improved with time and the little maintenace items I've done on it.
2) Get CP-AMEL -
COMPLETE March 31st. I told my instructor I needed to get my checkride and one good first flight out of it, and then we'd put it into annual (wasn't technically due until May, but we wanted to do it early as there were a lot of little things that needed attention). Did the checkride, then flew up to get dinner with a friend. Surprised her when I showed up in the Aztec and she was expecting the Mooney. Put the plane into annual the next day.
3) Get CP-ASEL -
COMPLETE February 28th in the Mooney
4) Get CFI -
COMPLETE September... 8th? What a pain that was, and on my list of "things I never want to do again."
5) Get CFII -
FAILED despite Tony's repeated hounding - next year! But MEI comes first!
6) Get MEI -
FAILED despite my repeated hounding - next year! First major goal I want to do
7) Fly plane mentioned in 1) to West Fly-In, Gaston's, Wings, 6Y9 -
COMPLETE/
FAILED. West fly-in never happened, made Gaston's, made Wings, missed 6Y9 (really important dog flight), and made WV62. I'll make 6Y9 next year!
8) Continue working with Animal Rescue Flights (and hopefully get others to participate) -
COMPLETE and then some!
9) Get started working with Angel Flight -
COMPLETE joined in May
Additionally, at this point I've flown over 300 hours this year (looking like 350 or so by the end of 2009), and passed 500 TT (started off at 225). Doubt I'll hit 600 this year, but there's always next year.
A month after passing my CFI, I signed off my first student, who passed his private. Way to go, Allan!
I'll also note that, through various means, I met a number of PoAers all over the country. PoA is a great group, and it's always fun to get together with other members, be it at a fly-in or just when we happen to be in the same area.
Lastly, it's no secret that I started Cloud Nine Rescue Flights, which has been growing steadily. Yesterday I received word that we got our first grant application approved (woohoo!). So far 8 flights have been done since late August, with two more scheduled before year's end. I think next year is going to see some significant growth happening, which I'm excited about.
Goals for 2010:
1) Get MEI
2) Get CFII
3) Continue growing Cloud Nine Rescue Flights
4) Attend Wings, Gaston's, 6Y9, and WV62
