What a fun day I had today..!!!

Wind was from the southwest at 35G55 with occasional gust up to 65. (all speeds in knots) One specific violent gust caught my wife and knocked her down. (I'll admit she is a little over weight at 85 pounds) I did fill her pockets with rocks after that. Really, I am not kidding.

My wooden privacy fence around the backyard is 60% down, along with broken post.....

My satellite dish was on a 4" diameter wood post stuck 4 feet into the ground, about 3 feet of that is in sandstone, and it was broken about 10 inches above ground level....

One cheap metal storage shed is caved in on one side pulling the top down. The metal is torn all around the screw holes....

One garbage can MIA.....

And all lose topsoil is now in Texas....

I can't wait for Friday the 13th.....!!!!!

what were they thinking with a controlled burn at Grants, today with the (well advertised and warned-about) winds?? (Last I heard it was out of control)

Yeah, I was watching that on the news. It was mentioned that it was not supposed to light off, but did so on its own. I guess they had some sort of igniter to light the fire that went off accidently. And it has been a long, dry winter and everything is super dry here.

At least it is blowing away from me....:yesnod:

The pilots in Wyoming call that “Tuesday” @Zeldman ... LOL.

Can't wait to get to Wyoming. Looking at some land to retire on, big enough to put a landing strip in for a C-206.

Flying, more specifically landing in this wind is normal. If I had a medical I would have taken a flight if called. Wind was only 20 to 40 degrees off the centerline.

The medevac King airs were not flying, but the UPS C-402 came and went, business as usual. I did not see the FedEx Caravan. Other than that no one was flying today.

The ravens are smart, they will do a severe cross wind landing to hit their point, letting the wind push them sideways. Not too many other birds flying today. I saw some sparrows do a down wind crash into a cedar bush. man, they planted...:lol::lol:

We’ll see what I get for giving you a hard time @Zeldman ?

1AM thunderstorm with hail. And my dogs are their usual freaked-the-hell-out. LOL.

Man, I hear that. Week before last, we had daytime highs ranging from 35-80 deg. Last week, I got a sun burn mowing the lawn in shorts and a T-shirt. Friday, I flew the plane over to the A&P, and it was near 80 deg. 2-3 hours later, I walked out of the hangar and it was about 40 deg. Saturday morning was 27 deg with sleet on the ground. 2 days later, got another sunburn mowing the church lawn. Got our first spring pop-up squall this morning.
