Ping pong ball sized hail at my house. No Bueno.

Greg prolly got hammered too. Any planes tied out at BJC are likely done. Haven't heard for sure but storm was headed that way. Watching radar it looked like it reached out with an arm to whack my part of town. West and north of me got it worse.

Got whacked at work, too, but not as bad as a little further west of here (Lakewood, Golden, Arvada...)

I'll upload video... it was entertaining.

Hail is a very localized phenomenon. Fingers crossed that it didn't get your airport...

By the way, it MAY have missed BJC. It started over Golden, and tracked north, and then made a hard turn across Denver right about I-70 and came through Northfield Stapleton (for those not in Denver, yes, that Stapleton... the old airport... my office literally sits on the far north end of the old 35R runway)... and then did the usual "follow I-76" track to the northeast.

Start with the photos.

Hail is why everyone tries real hard to have a hangar available around here.

When I was watching radar Broomfield was in the warning. Hope it turned east before it got that far north.

As for "localized" yeah, sorta. The hail paths typically run for miles from these storms. It is something to see once. The second and third times sorta suck.

Saw it coming, went outside to get a quick vid of the inflow clouds and some rotation on the leading edge...

Yeah, vertical video syndrome. Sue me. Haha... uploading other vid now.

That's all little stuff Nate. It spit some big stuff at my house. It's like it bounced the hail up and down for awhile until it could finally spit it out. Once it started spitting it didn't stop. No bueno.

Beginning of hail. I'm still outside under an overhang. You can probably hear me say "Ow!" when a quarter sized hail ball whacked me in the foot.

I hear ya. We got off easy at the office, and I haven't seen a summer here yet where every car in the parking lot didn't get hail damage... just the claims from our staff alone, probably count above $100,000 in the few years I've worked at this place. Every year. This spot is right where they start hammering things as they turn to go out I-76.

Two guys today had brand new cars, less than a month old... one got his on Saturday. Looks like MAYBE they got out without major damage... the guy who got his Saturday, pulled his into the warehouse, quick...

Friends have posted well above golf-ball size aggregate balls that were lots of these little things stuck together from going up and down inside the same cell, further west. Ugly...

Greg did post that his place got hit on FB, but I haven't seen any indication from him as to how bad yet.

By the way that sound like a jet engine in video 3 is the usual sound of hail just plastering the metal roof of the warehouse building. It's a lot louder in person... you can just barely talk over it.

It totally missed me. There might have been 30 seconds of pea-sized, but that's all. Not enough to cause me to do anything but glance outside at the noise.

We really lucked out here. A lot of marble sized that grew to almost what Nate (oops, dang small screen phone - that's not Nate's hand! :) ) has above but the storm was moving east just as those started dropping. No damage here but a friend reports damage just a mile South and even more damage starting around Hwy 58, 32nd Ave and Colorado Mills.

Barely even rained in Longmont, about 3-4 miles SE of KLMO Vance Brand Airport. We were very fortunate.

A former co-worker who owns a small apartment complex, reported 20 windows blown out, skylights cracked, and what not on the apartments... she'll be "enjoying" dealing with insurance for a while, sounds like.

The sound was a bit unreal here. It started with a few loud thumps that were really out of place. Then it became continuous thumps and I looked outside. Game over. I suspect the earliest ones were the larger pieces that did the damage. By the time I looked the stones appeared squishy and malformed. Then I pulled up the radar display...

Already got one robo call from a roofing company wanting to come out and tarp my roof.

I'm 5 nm north of 17 at KAPA. Loud, rain, not much of anything else. Lightning and thunder was so bad that the dog hid in the closet. Pretty good downpour right now.

My furnace vent is leaking. Tarp wouldn't do a damn thing.

I kept getting storm warnings in my email but they were all talking about a storm in north central Elbert county. They didn't mention the storm over Golden/Westminster.

What's up with those long fingernails? You need a mani... no self-respecting Cirrus driver would not have those looking beautiful. :)

Agree. One wouldn't want to snag the expensive headliner when reaching for the chute handle.
