My day is made! As I observed Wally approaching my workspace his smile was wide and his hand was outstretched from 15 feet away. Not having seen him since the summer of 2003 I just felt warm, all over, when he said, "I heard you were working here and just had to come see you."
During the last two summers I'd wondered how this octogenarian funny-man was doing, he having been a summer customer of mine for over 20 years; and I having printed his holiday greeting card inserts for all that time.
When we finished yakking, my young associates wondered what-the-H our impromptu extemporaneous dialogue was all about. They, of course, are too young to know Wally Ballou, or Arthur Sturdley, or unending other names by which this gem of a man has been known. But what they missed is an era when comedy didn't have to be spelled in four letter words or other demeaning commentary. Those of you who are older have already pegged my guest as Bob Elliott, 1/2 of the famed team of Bob & Ray.

.... or just Google Bob and Ray? and you'll get a bunch of hits.
You younger folk will probably relate to comedy actor Chris Elliott(many times, David Letterman guest). Well, Chris' father came to see me. My day is made!
