Just Venting!!!!!

Had my intro flight last sunday and was ready to get going with lessons this weekend. Having horrible luck with CFI's though. I've talked to many different CFI's, but can't seem to get one locked in. One that I liked works for a school that I have no desire to do business with, another one that I really liked (and actually did the intro with) doesn't seem to work weekends (except for the offer of the intro flight that I did last afternoon), or work very much for that matter, and the one that is available didn't exactly leave the greatest of impressions when we first met. To top it off, the school that everybody has raved about and I've selected to go with doesn't seem to have many instructors that are available other than bankers hours which sucks for those of us that work for a living, yet claims to be available 7 days a week. UGH!!!!!! Looks like it will be another month or so before I can even get on the schedule to try another CFI. AHHHHHHH!!!! Talk about losing motivation. :mad2:

Oh well, guess I just keep reading and get more of the written stuff taken care of and out of the way. Just wish I had some way to apply what I'm learning. Muscle memory would be much better for me than literature memorization! THIS SUCKS!!!!!

Ok, I feel better, thanks for allowing my rant!!!

I am in the same shoes, doing tons of studying and reading but no flying!! I am still waiting to start my first flying lessons since a discovery flight!!

It's becoming an "egg & chicken" problem, all over the country.

There are few students, so CFIs have moved on to find other things to do -- which makes it tough to find a CFI -- which discourages students -- which leads to fewer students -- which makes for fewer CFIs... :nonod:

Seems to me you are too picky, and you are coming up with more excuses than a high schooler. You liked one CFI but didn't like the school, ect, ect. Maybe you should reevaluate your motivation and true desire to be a pilot. This is not a social event (although most think it is).

I started and finished my PPL in 28 days and I could not stand my instructor. He was a means to the end. I told him I needed an instructor willing to get me ready for a check ride in 30 days and he did it. I was not going to play (or pay) the game most CFI's play by letting you ride around for 70 hours in a rented plane. Most CFIs I see and know are trying to milk each student for more hours. Sorry CF Is, but that is what I see. I had to circle the airport where my check ride instructor was for an hour to burn off the 40th hour.

I'm not trying to impress you with my accomplishments, but encourage you to make your own. If you want something in life do it and get it done, no matter what it takes. Pilots are decision makers, making excuses can kill you.

Good luck, I mean that.
