Unlocked iPhone traded for 350Z + 3 locked iPhones.

Considering that other outfits have unlocking systems that only require a software update or popping in a modified SIM card...


And since Apple gets a cut of the action when the iPhone is activated and used with AT&T, they can take some countermeasures if they choose. Even unlocked phones have to use iTunes to get the iPod functionality. They will know if it's legit or not and can update the software to brick it. It's up to Apple to "not be evil" to steal Google's motto.

Thing is, Hotz worked with a few Russian programmers... so I wonder if he could do the work on his own, or if he's got the hack in a nifty little package he can apply as needed. Wonder if those Russians are wanting their cut...

I wonder what he's gonna do with the 3 locked iPhones? I mean, that's two more than he needs...

You're right, though, Apple has been blowing away hacked iPhones. They don't get bricked, but they do get a full restore which takes away all the hacks.

One of the nifty things I think about his hack is that it is hardware. I think.
