Unleaded AVGAS fuel tests

Ah, notable by what's absent.

GAMI's G100UL is my bet on bet option as of now. They did not test that fuel.

In fact, it looks like this report relates back to testing done in 2001 through 2007.

Nor did they test the Swift fuel.

You're correct on both counts.

I was gonna say - There were some test results released for the Swift fuel a while back that made it look awfully good. The only drawback was that it's heavier than 100LL - But due to higher energy content you would burn less fuel, so if you look at it in terms of pounds per hour or pounds per mile it was still better than 100LL.

Whatever happens, I'm rooting for either Swift or G100UL - This 94UL crap that Continental is pushing has got to stop. :incazzato:

The test results can be found here:

There is no doubt in my mind that a alternative fuel (not necessarily gasoline) can be developed. The initial results from the Swift and GAMI tests seem to bear this out. We had a Swift fuel representative come in to speak at one of our pilot groups. He of course, was quite optimistic that Swift would be the fuel of the future. In my mind, there are two major hurdles to be overcome; certification, which I believe doable, and economics, which I believe is far less certain.

So... for the moment, I'm also rooting for both!
