According to a Sept. 21, 2004 Army News story, fewer than 150 Hueys were flying Armywide by the end of September 2004, anybody know how many are still flying Armywide?

No, but I believe that the Marines committed to the UH-1W instead of the Blackhawk. So Hueys ain't dead yet :)

I think they went with the Super Cobra (AH-1S) instead of the Apache as well.

Even though the Army is flying the UH-1, it's quite a bit different than the models in which I flew. Early first tour they were flying D models IIRC. The H model was the big new thing when I was in flight school. These were all single engine.

Later, the twin engine N model came out (I've never flown one, but sat in the front seat one the ground once.)

Don't know what the latest is.

Best,

Dave
